The Mountain staff likes to unwind on the deck. Unfortunately, I don’t get an adult beverage until 7:00pm — too much high-voltage equipment around here.img00317

Here’s Mountain program director Dave Benson, wondering why his office doesn’t have a deck like this.

U2 is all over the place these days, and this MD’s got the scoop for you.

Bono and Co. are on the road for the U2 360° Tour, and they’re hitting the US in about 6 weeks.

U2 may not be stopping by Seattle, but they have just been confirmed as the first musical guest on Saturday Night Live’s season premiere. They’ll hit the airwaves on September 26.

Can’t wait until then to get your U2 fix? Here’s some live footage of “I’ll Go Crazy” from the 360° Tour. Enjoy!

… to post this much EXCLUSIVE U2 on the web!

Friends, I may be going off the grid for a while for this one.

My inside source has come through once again. I’ve got not one, not two… but SIX new U2 remixes that are not to be found anywhere else. Outside of my source, and me… and now you.

Listen, enjoy, and savor the years of jail time I will be doing for this one.

From the desk of Kat, VP of Content…

I’ve seen many artists in our Mountain Music Lounge take on office competitors in ping pong, but this particular occurrence is one for the books!

Needtobreathe stopped by the lounge this afternoon for a brief interview and performance with John Fisher, and could not resist gearing up for the ping pong matchup of the summer.

In one corner, Street Team Coordinator and all-around Promotions Master Eduardo (AKA Fast Eddie)… and in the other, Toby from Needtobreathe (AKA Double-G from the Far East).

I’ve included video from the beginning of the match, which includes the sizing-up of the competitors and the start to what would become an epic 26-point, win-by-two playoff.

Who should have won? Send a comment and find out!

Mindy Smith got pretty well known on the strength of her 2004 song Come To Jesus, and her version of Dolly Parton’s Jolene. She had a few personal issues to work out, she released a holiday album a couple of years ago, but now she’s back, very much together, and eager to get her music out there. She’s about to release a new album called Stupid Love on August 11. She dropped by The Mountain to say hi, to play an old song and a new song, and to fill me in on what she’s been up to. You can listen to her web-only Carter Subaru Mountain Music Lounge performance here.

And check out this description of her recent visit with Dolly Parton:

Here are Mindy and Dolly singing Jolene together:

I always love it when we have guests in our Mountain Music Lounge. There’s great music, and for that matter, great guests! I shared an inside peek of Gomez warming up before their session yesterday, so today, I’m posting some photos of our great listeners.

A couple of years ago, we got lots of questions about a strange new version of Coldplay’s song Clocks. It was a group of Cuban musicians called Rhythms del Mundo who gave the song a new twist:

Now RDM is back with another intriguing collection of songs: Rhythms del Mundo Classics. The album is supposed to raise awareness and funds for climate crisis projects and natural disaster relief. The songs are all solid-gold hits from yesteryear, but they’re done by today’s artists — many of them Mountain faves — and enhanced by the talents of some of Cuba’s greatest musicians, including members of the Buena Vista Social Club. For instance, here are the Killers doing a spicy rendition of the Eagles song Hotel California:

Cool, huh? Here’s the whole track listing:

Hotel California – RDM ft The Killers
Cupid – RDM ft Amy Winehouse
Walk On The Wild Side – RDM ft Editors
Imagine – RDM ft Jack Johnson
Beat It – RDM ft Fall Out Boy and John Mayer
Under Pressure – RDM ft Keane
Satisfaction – RDM ft Cat Power
I Heard It Through The Grapevine – RDM ft Kaiser Chiefs
Because The Night – RDM ft KT Tunstall
Bohemian Rhapsody – RDM ft Augusto Enriquez
Under The Boardwalk – RDM ft The Rolling Stones
Runaway – RDM ft The Zutons
For What Its Worth – RDM ft OneRepublic
Big Yellow Taxi – RDM ft Aquila Rose and Idana Valdes
Purple Haze – RDM
Smells Like Teen Spirit – RDM ft Shanade
Are You Ready For Love – RDM ft The Kooks
My Cherie Amor – Eros Ramazzotti
Stairway To Heaven – RDM ft Rodrigo Y Gabriela

Check out the Rhythms del Mundo Classics website and listen to samples of all the songs here.
