I thought it was so he’d have an excuse to come to Seattle, explain himself, and play stuff from his new solo album. Well, he did do all of that in the Carter Subaru Mountain Music Lounge (the video’s up on our homepage right now,) but here’s the real story of his departure from BNL:

His new solo album, Page One, is coming out at the end of September and a tour will follow, so I’m pretty sure he’ll be back.

Just to satisfy my own curiosity, I asked Steven about the background of one of my favorite BNL songs, One Week:

Bruce will be releasing “The Promise: The Darkness on the Edge of Town Story” on November 16.
