Wallflowers front man Jakob Dylan is officially releasing his second solo album, Women and Country, in early April. But Mountain listeners get a preview when Jakob joins me in the Carter Subaru Mountain Music Lounge this Monday at 3:20.

Produced by T-Bone Burnett, who just won an Oscar for his song from the Jeff Bridges movie Crazy Heart, Jakob’s new album features backing vocals by Neko Case (of the New Pornographers) and Neko will be joining us for this session in the Lounge.

After three seasons, “Mad Men,” the television series about advertising in the 1960s, has attained a level of popular-culture cachet

Mattel plans to bring out versions of Barbie and Ken styled after four “Mad Men” characters. The characters to become dolls are Don Draper, the show’s leading man; his wife, Betty; his colleague at the Sterling Cooper agency, Roger Sterling; and Joan Holloway, the agency’s office manager who was Roger’s mistress.

For the sake of the Barbie image, her immersion in the “Mad Men” era will go only so far: The dolls come with period accessories like hats, overcoats, pearls and padded undergarments, but no cigarettes, ashtrays, martini glasses or cocktail shakers.

The 150-year-old Irish club is missing after it was left inside an SUV.  The traditional Irish club was brought to Seattle by Irish immigrants in 1859 from Ireland.  The shillelagh has been a part of the celebration for 70 years and is believed to be the oldest in the Pacific Northwest.

Anyone with information about the shillelagh is asked to contact the Irish Heritage Club at 206-223-3608.

There is a renegade knitter out there in New Jersey.  An unknown person dubbed The Midnight Knitter by West Cape May residents is covering tree branches and lamp poles with little sweaters under cover of darkness.  Most residents agree that they love the colors popping up.  Cute!

This past Monday night, I was invited to Los Angeles to hear the new Jack Johnson CD, To The Sea. When I rolled up to the office of Brushfire Records (that doubles as a solar powered recording studio), people were chatting on the lawn, a guy was cooking up tacos in the back yard, and Jack Johnson was warmly greeting guests.

Casual dress, casual grub, a keg, all contributed to the house party vibe. Nobody was asking Jack for photos or tweeting while talking. Our small group of media folk (there were maybe 30 people tops) were invited to sit on folding chairs in a small studio to hear several new Jack songs off the album. Here’s what we heard:
